So it's one corporate family with several company names. For a purchaser, the label matters less than traceability. Whatever the invoice says, you need a certificate of analysis that identifies the actual manufacturer and the batch number. If it doesn't match the container label, that's a problem, not a paperwork detail.

When I took over purchasing in 2020, I bought 30 liters from a new reseller because the price was about 15 percent lower. The acid arrived with a generic SDS, a certificate that had no lot number, and labels that did not match the cert. Our quality manager would not accept it. I lost a week arranging a return and still paid a restocking fee.
What I check now: the actual concentration, the manufacturer name on the certificate, a lot number that matches the container, and the packaging date. Also, nitric acid is corrosive and oxidizing, so freight is not a standard parcel delivery. If someone quotes a suspiciously low price, ask how they plan to ship it before celebrating.

The nuance is that some plant materials, like cutin and suberin, are made from fatty-acid-derived building blocks and are sometimes described as polymeric lipids. So the search phrase is not completely empty, but it does get misused in marketing.
Why would a materials buyer care? Because bio-based polymer claims often involve oils and fats, and words like green, bio-based, or biodegradable get thrown around loosely. Per FTC Green Guides, an unqualified claim like recyclable should only be made if a meaningful share of consumers actually have access to recycling for that product. If a supplier can't explain the chemistry behind a natural or bio claim, ask for the technical documentation before putting it in your spec.
Does the Material Brand Really Affect Our Brand?
I have mixed feelings about brand names in purchasing. A logo is not a substitute for a certificate, and I don't believe the most expensive option is automatically the right one. We buy standard supplies from no-name vendors when the risk is low.
But material quality is visibly connected to company image. If our custom equipment leaves the shop with a stainless surface that was poorly passivated, or with foam seals that soak up coolant, the customer doesn't blame the chemical supplier. They remember our workmanship and our quality.
I can only speak to our situation: custom equipment, close tolerances, and clients who look at details. If you sell consumables where nobody notices a defect, cheaper might be fine. For us, small differences in chemical or polymer quality became larger differences in how our product looks and performs after a year of use. That impression is worth more than the few hundred dollars I might save on the wrong batch.
